I'm in the business of misery let's take it from the top Despite the fact that the weather was cooling because of the season, the temperature in Wervera turned oddly hot today. As people exited their homes--some poor souls were even dressed for Autumn--they would find smoke rising from the middle of the city. As Wervera was built into the trees, this was reasonable cause for alarm. Oniz, however, would not let this place burn. Of course, he cared little for mortals, thought them incompetent and not worth his time. That, however, did not mean he would let anything threaten the Great Tree. The source of the smoke and unseasonable heat was, in fact, Oniz, standing on one of the platforms up in the canopy. His body was made entirely of black coal, everything above the waist flaming or glowing red. Upon arrival this morning, Oniz had demanded in a loud voice to speak with the mortal leaders. Messengers had been sent out all over Terifius to get the attention of anyone who may be able to help--or any parties who would be interested in spectating. Currently, the flame god is simply standing there, staring down any daring enough to approach him. 190 - take me to your leader nette of gs

It was amazing how dramatically a change in style combined with some minor glamour magic could so completely alter the image of a person. Without piercings, tattoos, or unnaturally colored eyes, the man who had been born with the name Desmond was now devoid of his strongest identifying features. He had become a blank slate -- a distinctly different entity than the strange, experimental artwork which his body resembled under most circumstances. When a god wanted to speak to an authority figure, he really had no choice but to arrive as Greyson Abbott, public advisor to the Luminary. The man's fingers made practiced motions behind the cover of his robes as he walked through Werevera's canopy, thus renewing the duration of the glamour spell to keep his hair white and eyes a vivid, healthy blue. He brought no others with him, but, as a general rule, maintained a simple guard spell in case he ran into any mortals who wished him ill.Oniz hadn't exactly made himself difficult to find, and the elemental god of fire was soon within his sight. Approaching, the advisor calmly met the god's gaze."My lord Oniz," greeted the robed man respectfully, "You asked to speak with mortal leaders, and I've come to fill this request. My name is Greyson Abbott, and I am one of the highest authorities of the Aetherium." His tone wasn't bragging. He was just stating the facts, justifying his right to be standing here before this god. "If I may ask -- for what purpose have you called for leaders like myself?"here's one authority figure at your service, mr fire god sir o7

I'm in the business of misery let's take it from the top A tall, bland mortal approached Oniz. He assumed the robes had some significance, and there was a reason for the weak glamour. Oh, yes, Oniz could tell this wasn't the mortal's true appearance. He couldn't see through the spell, but the flame god was no stranger to magic."The Aetherium? You upstarts are still in power?" Truthfully, Oniz stayed away from mortal society and their politics. It's not like the Church of Aetheria worshiped him, so there wasn't really a reason to keep tabs on them. When had they changed their name, anyway...
Without any apparent change in facial expression, Oniz continued without giving this 'Greyson Abbott' another chance to speak quite yet. This time, however, he spoke in that loud, demanding voice, obligating everyone near to listen, "I have come to put an end to your silly war before it begins." Or fight it. Wars fought solely among humans were relatively rare, but more than one had been waged in this god's name.
One way or another, Oniz intended to end this conflict. Whether it be with diplomacy or by fighting it himself, he wanted to keep these idiotic mortals from destroying their society.195 - Desmond Grey - I'll try to post in each event thread (as long as there are participants) once a day nette of gs

Dez had never expected to be able to deceive a god with a tier one spell. But Oniz had chosen a public stage for this conversation to occur, and there was a vast number of onlookers. This modified image was for the sake of their opinion, not his. As the god of flame spoke, the advisor had to wonder whether Oniz truly wanted to sway him or to simply use him for riling up the people, since he seemed to be primarily addressing those who were watching. The advisor also had to wonder whether Oniz actually knew what was going on. Claiming to desire an end to the oncoming war while not even realizing the Atherium (one of the two major opposing sides) was still in power seemed like an incredibly unstable basis for an opinion."You can't." Greyson replied with surprising bluntness. "This conflict has been escalating over a span of many human generations. In all this time, Manticore has refused to stop physically mutating and deforming mortals, regardless of whether they want that for their own body or not; the Aetherium has refused to stop believing that this practice is morally and theologically wrong. Although I share your desire for peace, these two beliefs can't peacefully coexist. Stopping this "silly" war will only lead to more years of bloodshed, violence, and hatred." Although his voice was not nearly as powerful as the god's, Grey projected loudly enough for some of the surrounding people to hear. "Unless," he added after a breath, "You want to defeat one side before the worst of the fighting starts."[GUARD] active [MINOR GLAMOR] active - 1/2

------------- Petro was the closest to the city and therefore was the one who had to take initiative in the presence of one of the great elementals. He was no stranger to conversing with a God but he was a stranger to speaking to any of them besides Chimeron.
He got there later than the older male... from the church no doubt by the look of him. "I see the Aetherium is not afraid of appearing as eager as they are to a God," the young man hummed as he saw the Flame God already conversing with the other boy.
"Apologies, I am one of Chimeron's... Petro," he calmly said with a simple bow to the elemental. He was always a fan of remaining calm since... you know being around all that power every time was overwhelming. You just had this sense that they could smite you without breaking a sweat... and knew they would if it suited them.
"I'd hold my tongue if I were you... who's to say yours it the side he wouldn't wipe out. After all yours is the society that seeks to kill a God out of fear and use us as a scapegoat for the world's ills... your morality is as corrupt as the church."He simply smiled at the both of them, trying to not let the mask crack. He had to remain calm and act like an adult despite being a child. If nothing else he'd do his best... after all the church was wrong.

I'm in the business of misery let's take it from the top Oniz was not fond of people standing up to him. No, he much preferred mortals who cowered in fear before him--and he had melted the mouths off people for less than this Aetherium leader had said to him. Much to his dismay, Oniz needed to be diplomatic right now. That, however, did not mean he needed to be nice. The heat in the area did anything but decrease as Oniz closed the distance between him and Greyson, leaning in. "Chimeron has been mutating you creatures for millennia, why the sudden indignation?" That's how they stood when the new tyke appeared: Oniz intimidating the audience he, himself, had requested, and Greyson trying to be bold. It was tense, in a word, but Oniz was not the one who needed to be worrying. As for Chimeron, Oniz had no particular quarrel with him. They were born around the same time, though Chimeron kept more secrets than other gods (this god) were comfortable with. "Throwing more blame, how cute." Oniz backed away from Greyson now, attention turning toward the short one now, "Am I merely to choose the lesser of two evils?" Oniz had to stop himself from grumbling about mortals and their folly. Not only would it unproductive and invalidating to act so... low, but it would also be hypocritical. Oniz had gathered people just like these ones in his armies before, especially against his siblings in the Great War. The god of flame had never been described as 'stable'. He was fire incarnate, quick to act and dramatic. He liked shows of power or other impressive feats. If you wanted stability, you should go to Robor, but she hardly cared for mortals, either. Oniz hadn't been keeping a close eye on society and lower conflicts, but as this one escalated, it had caught the eye of the entire pantheon. As egotistical as the gods were, they needed their earthly counterparts. Who would there be to worship them otherwise? nette of gs

"I cannot speak for the thoughts of our ancestors--" the snow haired man began to explain just before another person approached. Young. Manticore mouthpiece. Dez wondered how young he was when Chimeron started whispering in his hear. For how many years had those words been shaping his mind?
The advisor renewed the duration of his glamour spell from beneath the fabric of his sleeves and looked over the new arrival with a cold stare. "Then it's good you're not me -- I don't doubt our cause nor the judgement of the gods. We do not claim to be able to fix everything in the world, but we have chosen what we're willing to fight towards. Perhaps you should get your information correct before lying to the face of a god." His sharp gaze didn't leave the face of the boy. Yes, technically he was supposed to "eradicate" Manticore members, but what sort of image would that -- an advisor of the Luminary murdering a boy in broad daylight while in the middle of a diplomatic meeting with a god -- project to the public? And for what gain? Surely Chimeron would just choose another speaker which the Aetherium knew even less about. It wasn't worth it.
Unless an opportunistic chance presented itself, Greyson intended to remain civil. Or nonviolent at the very least. "I beg that you don't give the words of this boy too much credence," he spoke, looking back at the fiery deity and gently bowing his head.-glances at petro w/ 90% attack abilities- -glances at dez w/ 90% shields and mobility-
doitdoitdoit don't perma-kill dez tho. or petro. that'd be tragic.
