Sooted fingers slid across the pale surface of the page, blending hard, dark lines into gradients of grey. The light and shadows of the main hall's grand statue slowly began to develop on the paper. Waves of fabric. Curves of flesh. The face of the god was hidden from the angle of Desmond's current seat. Although there would be no religious service for at least another hour, the artist soon noticed another human presence in the chapel. It wasn't unheard of. There were many who came to the grand structure on their own, finding sanctuary in the emptiness of the space. For a few moments, Desmond continued to work with the charcoal in silence. When the presence lingered, he spoke, voice hardly filling the vast space. "Are you here for the sights, too?"The black haired man gently blew on his drawing, causing a thin residual dust to drift to the floor. only fools Why had Nazari come to the Aetherium Chapel? What would he be able to find here that would interest him? It wasn't typically a place Nazzy would go, preferring to show interest in more obscure deities. He was, however, here nonetheless. In truth, Nazzy was interested in exploring the current war. Of course, he was well read on the published works detailing the histories of the opposing sides, but he hadn't really talked to anyone about it. He had remained neutral--or, as neutral as a resident of New Therin could remain. With the Aetherium's immense (read: suffocating) presence in the city, it was nigh impossible not to side with them. Any propaganda would be spoon fed to you the moment you walked out your door. In any case, Nazzy was impartial about the theological debate: Chimeron certainly seemed to have the abilities of a god, and was far more present than Aetheria. Despite the relatively early hour, Nazzy was tired. He had stayed up reading, and... hadn't slept. It wasn't even the first time this had happened. In fact, it was a regular occurrence. As for Nazzy's specific intentions today, he wasn't sure if he was just on a walk or if he was seeking out a religious discussion. Either way, when he arrived at the enormous indoor space of the chapel, he immediately went for the smaller shrines in the ambulatory. He would of course send up a prayer to Aetheria as this was a space to honor him (how could anyone forget with the unreasonably sized statue dominating one end--I mean, someone was even there sketching in charcoal!) but he wanted to honor the other gods, as well. One thing he felt the Aetherium ignored was that Aetheria was not the only god. Sure, they had all these little symbols of the rest of the pantheon in the back, but it didn't really seem like enough. A few minutes later, Nazzy had finished his prayers and appreciations of the altar statues and came back into the main hall. Someone spoke, and Nazzy glanced at the person, making awkward eye contact. He didn't know the person, so it didn't register that he was being addressed at first. After glances around at the otherwise empty space just to make the situation more awkward, Nazzy turned back to the stranger, Uhh, yeah. I guess."Sight-seeing. That seemed like an adequate description of what Nazzy was doing today. He approached the stranger and sat next to him. The charcoal work was beautiful, especially with the uncommon view. Anyone else would have chosen a front view and sat in one of the pews. This piece was much more interesting, and Nazzy didn't want to take his eyes off of it.
